Took some time, re-watched Underworld - not great but Bill Nighy is always hot - Deep Blue Sea and couple of old horror movies (will recommend Just Before Dawn, genuinely scary shit) while doodling. I came to like rocks quite a bit.

Retouching stuff without a mouse let alone a tablet is a biiiiiitch. That's why the rest of this dump will have to wait until I feel inclined to be arsed.

I'd never received inspiration from a dream until Evans came along (the man on the right). He just popped up last week, even had a name from the very beginning which never happens in my dreams, usually non-existing characters remain anonymous. It was very epic dream btw (been having those a lot lately), full of Lovecraftian fish people and stuff.

Randomness ensues. Lady vintage is probably my favourite of the bunch.

(A warning, this is a long ranty rant indeed and I've been reading very clever and very English literature lately. This always makes me express some very simple things very, very pompously.)

Now that I'm back at school I'm convinced that I should just dive head first into the lovely world of television and film-making. We started this editing course where we each get a chance to shoot and cut a pretentious two-minute short film and I'm too thrilled for words because a completely independent project is what I've been aching for. Of course this means I'm also scared shitless because the superior dreamlike plan I've nurtured at my bosom is going to split its fluffy head open against the harsh and un-lubricated reality tomorrow when I actually go shoot this lovechild of mine. But I haven't been this excited about anything for a long, long while so screw the end product. Even if it sucks more than a toothless Caribbean wench, at least I get to play Frau Direktorin for a day.

But I'm rambling and haven't even touched the actual point, which is I'm going to set comics aside for now, at least until January and Hungary. Maybe during the exchange I'll change my mind, but for now there is just no point in hitting my head against the wall like I've been doing for the past few years. Being torn between school work and comics has made me miserable because as much as I enjoy both - and I'm surprised to say this, considering I had zero interest when I got accepted, but I now really do like studying at OAMK and getting caught up in silly movie projects and stressing the hell out of things like night-shoots, my lack of skills in cinematography and post-production and and and - things being as they are, I haven't been able to do either with my all invested because the other is always looming behind my back.

I know that to some people I know my decision might seem like I'm throwing in the towel and that I'm not a TRU ARTISTE if I yield as easily as this, but this isn't about BOOHOO I SUCK SO I DUN WANNA. After I finished high school I promised myself I'd follow my own lead and not let good things pass me by just because I hesitated or couldn't recognize what I really wanted, and right now, giving my all to my studies and film is what I want to do. Drawing is still my number one companion, and if it's all I've pegged it to be, it will allow me to stray to other paths for now. Besides, I'm still going to practice and sketch as much as I can - and do Koukussa!!, since its schedule is so loose anyway - it's only the actual serious comics side I'm putting on hold.

So yeah, there it is. That's all my socks paired, back to the accounts.

Very off-topic, went jogging today. Really, I did, and it felt fantastic which, considering that I haven't done regular excercise since 2003, is mind-boggling in the twilight zone sense. I won't expect any other great feats from myself anytime soon, though. I wonder if I'll manage to get up in the morrow.
But still, fantastic!

This might be my favourite pic of the year, if for nothing else than because the filename is "tosser0808.jpg". Cheap thrills, be mine.

Was going to finish this all top-notch but you know me, lazy as an elderly walrus basking in the Arctic sun on a particularly breezy day and whatnot. I probably spent more time adjusting the typography than actually colouring the blasted thing. And yes, textures are a lovely thingummy to use.
